NHH Forum to open Anniversary Week

NHH's Anniversary Week starts on Monday 5 September. The first day will feature a meeting between one of the biggest companies in Norway, some of our best researchers and attentive students.

NHH Forum is an annual event. It is a collaboration between students, staff and a private sector company. Big companies such as Statoil and Telenor have participated previously and this year it is Orkla's turn. Since 2008, the event has been designed to create a good setting for dialogue between business and industry and students and staff at NHH.

A unique oppertunity for students

CEO Bjørn M Wiggen will represent Orkla together with other leading executives from the company.

'This is an excellent opportunity for all students at NHH to meet the corporate management team of one of the biggest and most successful companies in Norway,' says Mette Bjørndal. She is chair of the organising committee for NHH Forum and is delighted to have succeeded in securing Orkla's participation this year.

'We are really pleased that Orkla accepted the invitation to participate. This gives our students a chance to learn more about business and industry at first hand, and, after all, it is the students who are the target group for this event.'

Ms Bjørndal also takes the opportunity to urge all students to be active during Anniversary Week.

'It is an academic celebration that lasts a week, and we want students to take part in the celebrations.'

Open for debate

The event will be opened by Rector Jan I Haaland, before Bjørn M Wiggen from Orkla takes over with a talk entitled 'Long-term value creation in Orkla', a topic that the vast majority of students and staff at NHH should find very interesting.

After Mr Wiggen's contribution, there will be ample time for students and staff to make their mark on the event. First, there will be questions from the floor, then three professors will comment on Mr Wiggen's talk.

Professor Lasse B Lien, Professor Katarina Kaarbøe and Associate Professor Iver Bragelien, all from NHH, will make their comments in turn. This will be followed by a debate between the speakers and the audience.

All students and staff at NHH are welcome to take part. The event will be in English.

The day will be concluded in the canteen, where Orkla, staff and students will have a chance to meet each other in a more informal setting. Tapas will be served and this should be a golden opportunity for NHH students to enjoy a chat with Orkla's top management.
