TEDx NHH 2011

For the second year in a row, NHH has the pleasure of hosting the TEDx event, which will welcome all students, NHH staff and public on the 28th of September to experience the power of ideas.

TEDx, standing for Technology, Entertainment and Design, is an independently organized event created in the spirit of TED Conference's mission, "ideas worth spreading". Gathering inspirational speakers and outstanding individuals, the ultimate aim of the event is to experience invigorating talks, diverse life-changing ideas, inspirational stories and pleasant acquaintances. This year, echoing TED Global 2011, the theme of the conference is "Embracing Others", reflecting the diversity of attendees, speakers, organizers and ideas that are to be embraced.

"Have you met Ted?" - inquire the posters gleaming from around the campus and welcome everyone to approach and take a closer look. Not surprisingly, many students light up when they see a familiar logo and symbol that they are so passionate about. "Yes, I follow TEDx Talks on Youtube" or "TEDx? Wow, I'm such a fan of it!" - are the kind of responses TEDxNHH team members hear almost every day. With just under two weeks left before the event, the excitement seems to already be hovering in the air, filling thoughts and creating high expectations for the upcoming conference. Indeed, the participating speakers are hailing from around the world to share their energizing ideas with the audience intending to inspire, astound and induce action to pursue inner dreams.

On September 28, NHH will open its doors to renown individuals in their fields of expertise: entrepreneur in the biotech industry, Fabio Cavalli; co-founder of mind-bending technology and design of Mutewatch, Mai-Li Hammargren; traveler, filmmaker and founder of HIV/AIDS-based company for children, Sebastian Linström and composer, drummer and percussionist, Ole Hamre, just to name a few. They all are coming to Bergen to be "embraced" and mark the happening of another successful TEDxNHH event in history.

In fact, the majority of students were already lucky enough to "watch the birth of inspiration" live on October 23, 2010, at NHH, and their comments were more than encouraging. "Last year it was amazing, so I'm really looking forward to this one" - we heard from almost every attendee. So, in tune with the success of last year's conference, we are now promised even more Technology, Entertainment and Design, and while event organizers are working hard to make our dreams happen, we are left only with crossing off the days in the calendar while waiting for the big day to finally come.
