PhD Research Scholarships

NHH Norwegian School of Economics announces the availability of a limited number of PhD research scholarships.

06.12.2013 - Ed.

These scholarships are available for five specializations in the PhD programme at NHH; Accounting and Auditing, Economics, Finance, Management Science, and Strategy and Management.

Each applicant is required to apply for not more than two (2) specializations, in order of priority.

Each scholarship is for a period of four years and combines taking a PhD programme at NHH working as a research scholar. PhD research scholars are required to work as a teaching and/or research assistant for the department they are admitted to on enrolling in the PhD programme. The work requirement corresponds to 25 % of a full position a year, with the remaining 75 % being dedicated to the successful completion of a PhD.

The annual salary for PhD research scholars is set according to the Norwegian State Salary Scale: State Salary Scale 50, which is currently 420 800 NOK gross (approximately 50 634 Euro or about 68 822 USD). The scholarships are subject to Norwegian taxes and benefits, including health care provision and membership of the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.

Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the PhD programme. Qualified applicants with research proposals that fit best with the research interests of the department concerned will be prioritized. The prioritized research areas within Accounting and Auditing, Economics, Finance, Management Science, and Strategy and Management are outlined in the programme information provided for each of the five specializations. In the event of equivalent qualifications, female applicants will be given preference.
