Kunze is invited to give a summary of the antology on "Jobs, career and wages" that she edited jointly with Karin Thorburn for the Swedish government. The work is commissioned by the Swedish Jämställdhetsutredningen. The conference takes place in Reykjavik on 13 November.

The conferences
In 2014 Iceland holds the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers and will be hosting two Nordic conferences on Gender Equality in the labour market on 12 and 13 November in Reykjavik.

The first Conference is arranged in co-operation with Nordic Information for Gender Knowledge (NIKK) which on 12 November presented a Nordic research report on part time work in the Nordic region. On 13 November, the Icelandic Presidency is hosting an international conference on equal pay and gender equality in the labour market. The conference is arranged in co-operation with a Nordic Network on Equal Pay and Gender Equality in the Labour Market and the Action group on Equal Pay in Iceland.

These two subsequent conferences provide an overview of the challenges which remain for equality in the labour market. Researchers, Government Representatives and representatives from the social partners will participate in both conferences which are open to the public.

The Conference on part time work will utilize the collective competence and experience in the room. The Conference will be opened by the Icelandic Minister for Gender Equality, researchers will be present with their reflections on the results and practitioners will share their experiences about what has facilitated change in the past. Everyone present can participate in the creative dialogue and the exchange of experiences, and in doing so help create a shared platform with recommendations to policy-makers and employers. The language of the conference is English and there will be no interpretation. There is no conference fee, the number of participants is however limited and registration is required.

The Conference on Equal Pay
The Conference on Equal Pay will address the persistence of the gender pay gap in the Nordic Countries and try to answer the following questions: How to work for equal pay within the Nordic Model? What are the roles and responsibilities of the social partners in the process of collective bargaining? Furthermore, the conference aims to present new research results and best practices from the Nordic region as concerns gender equality in the labour market. Deadline for registration is November 10th.
