William R. Kinney gives the Gjesdal Lecture

Monday 19 May, Professor William R Kinney, Jr. from University of Texas at Austin will give The Frøystein Gjesdal Lecture on Accounting Research at NHH.

At Professor Frøystein Gjesdal's 60th birthday in 2010, NHH established an annual lecture in Professor Gjesdal's name to mark his long contribution to accounting research.

This year's guest lecturer is Professor William R Kinney, Jr. who holds the Charles & Elizabeth Prothro Regents Chair in Business and Price Waterhouse Fellow in Auditing Professor, McCombs School of Business at University of Texas at Austin.

Professor Kinney is recognized international scholar in financial accounting and auditing research. He has published more than 50 articles in prestigious journals in the field.

Kinney is Past-Editor of The Accounting Review and has served on the boards of numerous journals, panels, and commissions.This includes serving as member of the Auditing Standards Board, the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board Advisory Council, and the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board as well as Academic Fellow at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Professor Kinney is the recipient of many awards for his consistently high quality of research, teaching, and professional services.

The title of his lecture is "Global Auditing Standards and Jurisdictional Regulation: The Role of Core Concepts".
