The Johan Arndt Conference on Sustainable Marketplaces

The ninth Johan Arndt marketing conference will be held at NHH on 11 and 12 June 2015.

"Consumers and the market system: How can consumers and marketers co-operate in the production and consumption of sustainable marketplace practices?" is the title of this year's conference.

Programme
Professor Markus Gielser of the Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto, will give the key note speech "Responsible Consumers" on skype. Watch his TEDx talk: "The Secret to Bird Feeding".

Professor Diane Martin from Aalto University, Helsinki, will talk on the topic "Sustainable Marketing".

The presentation by Professor Ove Jakobsen of the Centre for Ecological Economics and Ethics at the University of Nordland is entitled "Ecological Economics".

There will also be parallel sessions with presentations of submitted papers. The deadline for submission is 30 April.

About the conference
The conference, named after the Norwegian marketing professor Johan Arndt (1937-1986), is Norway's main academic forum for marketing research.

The Johan Arndt Marketing Conference takes place annually. It was first held in April 2007 by BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, and is today a collaboration between BI, NHH Norwegian School of Economics, Trondheim Business School, Oslo School of Management, Buskerud and Vestfold University College and the National Research School in Business Economics and Administration. Responsibility for the conference alternates between the Norwegian institutions offering degree courses in economics.

The objectives of the conference are to:

- honour Professor Johan Arndt as the greatest Norwegian international marketing researcher of all times

- encourage marketing research in Norway

- encourage more and better Norwegian doctorates in marketing

- help bridge the gap between industry and academia as a basis for better and more relevant marketing research

Johan Arndt
Johan Arndt is referred to the foremost Norwegian marketing theorist in history. He graduated in economics from NHH and later took a Master's degree at the University of Minnesota and a PhD at Harvard. After two years as an assistant professor at Columbia University, he became Professor II at NHH and later Professor I at NHH and BI. His research and teaching has had a great impact on both sides of the Atlantic.
